Good morning’ I need some advice please’ yesterday whilst out driving my engine warning light has come on, the car is running perfectly , it’s a 2010 3.0 l Roadster, immaculately maintained zero problems to date, oll pressure is normal, temperature is normal , there is no error message in my speedo. My gut feel is that it is a gremlin in the electronics, any suggestions ? Or how can I re-set the warning light? I’m in Dubai no dealership here.

Very generic advice but get yourself an OBD sensor - can be picked up cheap on Amazon and eBay. Then download the TORQUE app on your phone. This will link to the OBD sensor, you can then check what the light is on for and then let you clear the fault code.

As suggested with a Bluetooth link to your phone. The app should show the fault code(s) that triggered the MIL and allow them to be cleared after checking here for their meaning and possible further investigation.

One example of an app, if you use an apple product, I am happy with Car Scanner Pro for some few dollars.

Probably a lambda sensor fault code. May not be a failing sensor, just one of your CATs running low temperature/efficiency. Some Roadsters seem prone to it.
You won't know until you've read the stored codes though. Either Bluetooth from phone/tablet to an ELM327 or find a suitable code reader device.

My guess would be you had used the car. Stopped for a short time like getting fuel & started up. The lambda sensor on my 3 l Roadster did this on the passenger side.
I bought the app "Torque" (though the free one will clear faults) & an OBDII dongle on e bay.
I did buy a cheap hard wire OBDII reader but it didn't work on Fords.

Lets us know what the code is please.

I solved my issue by not using cheap supermarket fuel.It seems they can glaze the lambda sensor.

They are also prone to lean engine warnings. Check for air leaks after the MAF sensor including the crank case ventilation hoses.

My Plus8 with Gems management used to get the light on. I have an Autel Maxiscan OBD and it showed the fault as random intermittent misfire. Reset using the Maxiscan. After a check of plugs, wiring, connections I tried VPower petrol. That worked. I try to stick to it but use 95 octane as well. It looks like the refuel/95 octane/restart as described above can cause it to recur, indicating a cooled sensor possibly triggering it. The Maxiscan is now a few years old so updates are not supported my Autel. I did try it once on an S1Aero and it didn’t register. That may have been my fault in not clearing old data out of it first before selecting BMW option.
I recently put heat shield round the cats so will see if that helps. Trouble is it is a case of waiting to see what happens.

I had the engine light on more often on the Roadster simply because of the active carbon filter by the tank. It was nothing serious.

Problem solved, checked the sensors, nipped them up disconnected and reconnected the battery hey presto no more warning light, thank you all for the responses and advice...merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year to you all.

If you are interested in what was really wrong, I would still buy an OBD2 reader. Many errors are detected for a while but not yet reported. This can take 100 miles, or a programmed period of time. The OBD2 reader will immediately see if an error message is "pending". Just in case the light comes back on, which I think is not unlikely.
