I just do not like the dash layout on my GDI Plus 4, so I've started on the replacement in order to have the speedo and tacho in front of the driver and put a lid on the glove box. Here is a pic of the first try out of the new layout, a long way to go!! Should keep me busy for some time.
If anyone who has been through this process has any tips or gotcha's please let me know.
Cheers

I felt the same way you do now.

On our Plus 4, we also had the armture board redesigned to our liking.

The dash was manufactured by MK Holztechnik and the conversion was done by the Morgan dealer in Austria. On this occasion we also had the dials of the instruments changed from black to ivory.

Two notes:
The space above the steering column is very tight (for the two large instruments). On our Plus 4, the wooden frame had to be worked out a bit.
Due to my height (190 cm), the upper dials of the speedometer and tachometer are covered by the steering wheel. In the meantime, however, I have gotten used to it.

I would do the conversion exactly the same way again.

Good luck!

Now that is a really smart dash. I wouldn't mind betting it cost a bob or two !!

Michael,
It is pics of your dashboad, in the dashboad thread, that was the inspiration for me to carry out this modification.

Thanks for the tipoff about the lack of space for the speedo and tacho and the need to relieve the frame. Even with my paper template I had realised that things would be a bit tight.
Cheers

Hi, that looks good!
I just ordered some of these led bezels for my original dashboard. Does anybody know how they attach it to the dash? Some kind of glue?

I’ll watch with interest, my dashboard is the weak link in the Morgan driving experience

They are attached with a few drops of super glue (cyanoacrylate).

The complete conversion of the dashboard cost about 1650 Euros.

Kevcaster,
I'll try to keep this thread updated and you'll see the pics if I get it finished. LoL.
But as I've said before on here woodwork is not one of my strong points - if you chop too much off you can't weld it back on!
For me just buying the correct marine ply and veneer is proving a challenge. I suppose I could use MDF like MMC?

Good luck with that John07, it will be interesting seeing it develop. I know what you mean with the layout.

MichaelP, yours is a nice conversion.

I notice the dials have the Morgan wings on. Presumably the fitting dealer bought these from the factory?

I asked for cream/ivory dials when I ordered my car in 2015 but was told they were not available, however if they supply them now I think I will have them converted, yours look smart.
