My battery collapsed on me a couple of years ago. Interesting in that initially it cranked ok but the engine did not start. Seems the ECU prevents start if voltage is low.
4/4 Ivory 4.1:1 axle, Mercedes A200 AMG

At my last home I had no power in the garage. I rigged the biggest external panel i could get on the wall. Took a feed through from the battery through the plyboard near the centre of the seats with connectors from europarts, but RS and Halfords do similar The company i purchased from are below, worth a look and they are knowelgable to talk to. https://www.photonicuniverse.com/en...p-to-320W-12V--640W-24V-solar-input.html

Bonesie, just as a last check. Have a look at the earth connections. Clean them up and try starting again. I had similar a few years back on my 4/4. Battery in the rear near the axle. I used a long booster cable direct from the battery negative to the starter mounting bolt. Car started ok. Morgan used short earth leads, one from the battery to the chassis nearby, used the chassis to link to another short earth cable to the starter mount. Bypassing these showed a poor earth somewhere. New cables and clean connections was all that was needed. Battery was ok. I did eventually change it though as I spotted a small crack in the casing near one terminal.

Agreed I had that issue on my S1 Roadster. The earth straps may look OK but the corrosion in hidden. A quick strip and clean up might help

Cheers guys. After testing and trying to charge the original battery and coming to the conclusion it was toast, I chucked in a new battery today and it fired right up instantly. Ive also fitted a flying charge lead and ordered THIS for time when the car is laid up for a bit ! An expensive lesson learned! A quick update to this as its been linked to from another thread. Solar panel installed yesterday and all working well. I hadnt realised the kit came with its own a flying lead with in line fuse ( the other didnt ) so I swapped the one pictured to the included one. The lead now comes out at the side of the carpet so I dont need to pull it back to charge. Almost identical to Craig Jezz's So far so good
