Great Escape Gang eve before Christmas Eve drive
Despite a wet weather forecast we planned a drive to meet for lunch before Tier 4 inevitably hits Suffolk after Christmas. We met at the Two Magpies for coffee but drinking coffee outside in the drizzle wasn't good and one of team couldn't reach us due to floods around Bungay. So two Brooklands with a lead Mondeo headed to Ramsholt for a pub rumored to have under cover outside seating. Ramsholt ArmsThings didn't go well. The road was a tad wet enroute (sneakily I let Tony lead to check the depth of the puddles which came over the running boards) & the pub sadly had no under cover seating but the location is stunning. Not deterred we headed to my local the Mariners in Trimley where we had a heated marquee. Mariners FreehouseThe food was excellent including the rum & raisin bread & butter pudding. The Adnams Broadside slipped down very well. Roll on 2021.

Sadly before Doris Doom & Mad Halfcock cancelled Xmas I had ordered our Xmas meat. So sadly an abundance of pigs in blankets from the Sausage shop will need eating by 3 not 5 folk.

They freeze very well and thawed go wonderfully with a fried egg for breakfast... The pigs in blankets, not Doris and Halfcock....

A guy I know is locked down and will be spending Christmas day on his own. He has a tray of 24 pigs in blankets which, together with a few beers and a bottle of Scotch, will be his Xmas dinner. I have to say I am a little envious. Being vegetarian is all very well, but there are times when one is tempted...

My nephew is vegetarian (or was when my sister was still alive) however, should there be a food van wherever they went for a walk (the car park at Dovestones Reservoir springs to mind) he would have to have a bacon butty. There is something about the aroma of cooking bacon!

Who needs the ferry? - John and Tony would have driven across Well Tony would have followed Gary's Mondeo & if he came out the other side I would have followed. I need to wash the Mog today it is coated in muck.
