Modern cars have alternator regulation performed by the ECU rather than simple onboard machine sensing voltage regulator. This allows smart/intelligent charging and safe use of higher current alternators as well as sensing closer to the battery. On top of this the ECU is aware of the cars electrical demands and can perform temperature compensation.

Ian, I know when I drove the demonstrator at Krazy Horse in the early part of 2020 that the seats & brakes were a disappointment and the squealing brakes especially so.
Dan was looking at other pads but at the time couldn't find any. Maybe he has now? John Exactly my observation driving the PlusFour at Williams. The rest of the car is simply amazing, especially the manual version.

Peter, I have to say the auto box Plus four just amazed me. You are always in the power band. Before I drove it I was very sceptical & wanted a manual. Had I decided to go ahead & buy it would have been an auto, but the seats, lack of storage, squeeling brakes and not wanting to be MMCs QC dept led me to a wait & see policy. John

John There's no rush is there. Let the early prospectors deal with the niggles. The brakes are a surprise. They either didn't "notice", or didn't act to resolve that. Neither of which is impressive. Brakes should be spot on, with cars like these. The seats wouldn't stop me because that's fixable later, but again, is this a result of only testing with "Young men's" arses? Didn't they test seat comfort with a variety of shapes and sizes? Storage inside is more of an issue. Cramming space is invaluable, but again not a deal breaker. In the end, the benefits over my Trads right now don't justify the massive extra cost. Right now, this is the only Morgan which catches my eye............. https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1198572

Dave had white van man not T boned my S1 I wouldn't own a 3.7. I would say the S1 is a sweet spot car. The 3.7 gearbox is not as good.

John John, the Automatic wasn't available to test when I tried the manual, I'd driven the PlusSix auto and also the same engine/gearbox in the BMW M140i I had. You are right, the box is super, although I think that the car is best left in "sport" gearbox mode, with the lever knocked over to the left. As to the brakes... being kind, they work. My reference point is the 6 Pot AP Racing set up in the Plus8. Neither AMG is as good in terms of sensitivity, pedal feel, progression and absolute stopping power, but they are close. The PlusFour was OK, other than excessive pedal travel before the first bite. The PlusSix brakes...unacceptable: both excessive travel and no feel. The seats... My S2 Roadster seats were far better, the Plus 8 seats are brilliant, BUT only for those slim hipped amongst us. I know MMC are stuck with the seat height because of sight line regulations, but the padding and shape are just terrible. I'm not changing cars, I have a car that is, in my view, one of the best Morgan models ever made. It is a grand tourer, not a sports car. I agree, the 3.7 Roadster box is just wrong. It would have been better with the Ford auto box that goes with it.

.....
Does this mean that Hamsters are too short to drive these modern Morgans?

Interesting Peter, an auto option on the Roadster may have attracted more 'new to Morgan' buyers and a bonus that export versions would have lower emissions in auto too ?

Sorry to read this, I sincerely hope MMC sort the chewing gum wheels out for you and the much highlighted brake issues and seats on these new CX models before it impacts on sales.
I certainly won't be committing to a Plus Four until these issues are resolved by MMC, at 70-80k there are a lot of other choices out there.[/quote]
My point exactly, only two models available and both getting poor reviews from owners
