He is very beautiful - Lord of all he surveys. I agree with Richard - he does look like a dog who has staff.

It's what happens when you allow an industry to build up around something people should just do for themselves ..... self-ratcheting creep into the extreme for the sake of it ..... what passes for 'saturday night nails' in sections of the female population is another example.

Definitely a case of 'just because you can doesn't mean you should'

Reminds me of an evening spent at the house of an old friend many years ago. He had a very large young family and well into the visit I asked him where their white highland terrier was? One of the kids immediately jumped up and ran upstairs to let the dog out of a bedroom much to his dad’s annoyance. Once the dog came in the room I could see why it had been hidden away, the kids had coloured it in from head to toe with felt tip pens!

I have/ had always working dogs. I train them self confidence as they have to decide what to do in critical situations and they always know I am the chief behind them. That gives them a relaxed character.

All dogs are essentially pack animals and require an "Alpha Male".
We have to provide that role, when done properly they are, as you say, relaxed and delightful...
If we do not they can be neurotic and potentially nasty.

Wives can fill this role too.

Now that photo really is the dog`s B"£$%%ks.
I once shared an office with a blind colleague and his guide dog had more brains than the rest of the workers put together. I appreciate working dogs - but coiffured pooches is another matter - especially the ones which snap at me or jump whilst I`m out running - and the owners who say "She`s only playing!".
