I had Trackstar by Telestar Navman on my Plus 8, which worked perfectly for 6 years. I have MetaTrak on the Alfa which is a cheaper system only slight niggle is the system comes with a keyfob which you have to have on you when driving.

Just a warning with Telestar Navman if you sell the car or stop the annual subscription there is no refund but as the nice lady said to me they will not charge me again to reinstate the remainder of my 5 year (4 years 7 months) subscription on another car at anytime in the future....

I fitted a tracking system on the Plus 8 to reduce the insurance premium, when first done it more than halved the premium.

The Fob element will depend on the various levels of tracker required.

£70k to £130k you need a tracker
£130k or specialist threat you often need a tracker with a fob.

I will admit that I have never run a car expensive enough to need the fob as I always buy them pre-loved.
The fob has all sorts of conditions - never keep the fob near the key or on the same key ring or they can evade payment etc. Do be aware of them if going down that route.
The fobs can be difficult in modern cars with lots of computering bits depending on the unit placement

I have a 'trakker' on my car. It's a hidden mobile phone with GPS tracking enabled. Costs me about £5 a month for the SIM card. Can also use it as a mobile hotspot smile

It would pay for itself to have one fitted, so I am considering the notion.

Has anyone here fitted one? Are there some better than others? Fitted by a Morgan dealer - or by a specialist?

Thanks

If you want a tracker then thats fine. If not, do give "Abbeyfields" a ring ( 0121 550 2380 ) and speak to Jayne Jordan. She used to work for Footman-James and is really on the ball. I have my SS with them, me and the memsahib, no tracker, agreed value £120K plus the usual bits and bobs all for £253 p.a.

This dates back to the early 00s. A friend of mine who had had many Porsches took delivery of his new 911 Turbo one of the first in the country fitted with a Tracker. It was stolen a couple of days after delivery overnight whilst he was away. You could see the trolley jack grooves in his drive where they had manhandled the car out of the garage. Strangely the Tracker wasn't activated and of course the car was never seen again.

Hello Neilda ,
I have an tracker on one of my cars , Meta Track I think its an international used system . You can see the condition of the battery ( for some cars interesting ) ,where it is , what you have done, and I can make , the car cant start anymore , wherever it is .

The last Fezza had one fitted by Ferrari themselves. It was a Vodaphone tracker and whilst it worked OK until Voda decided it needed replacement with an uopdated version, there is no way in this life that I will ever deal with Vodaphone again. They are thieves. No other way to describe their behaviour.

The current car has the same tracker but its switched off. I pay a bit more on insurance to avoid having to have a tracker.

You do not get the same cover for £ 190 that LV charge £600 for.

NFU didn't ask for a Tracker, just that it is locked in a garage overnight at home.

It's Vodafone Howard.

I know this because in 1998 I was the main presenter on a £20m+ contract for IT things to them.

My first slide had Vodaphone on it and the saleman nearly hit me before he grabbed the slide out of the deck.

I will never forget again!

Yes I also agree with you re avoiding them.

I am dealing with a customer at the moment. The global agreement provided by VF gives them a 250Mb/month data sim for nearly £30. I am doing it for £2.80 with better service. You have to laugh. They have yet to get a bill right after 18 months.

I have just fitted a small gps tracker which looks just like a relay. It has a sim card in, so you can track, it tells you if the car moves, it also allows you via the app to cut the fuel. 20 quid plus sim card
