I try to avoid these modern cars overloaded with functionality not needed.
That is why I enjoy/suffer in my Fiat Doblo Cargo 2010 in rain and winter.
Simple no fuss.
As an example, I was driver for my friend which is obsessed with beemers.
Her 1 series beemer has automatic wind screen wipers. Problem is they start working after I cant see through the windscreen. So I had to start them manually anyway.
The indicator switch for turning right or left was so sensistive or insensitive that changing lanes on the motorway, we always ended up signalling the wrong way.
The design of the HVAC unit also looked like the radio in my old Berlingo, so I never got the hang of it.
Technology is supposed to help you like it does in an ipad, not to make you frustrated.
And the cost of repairing all these stupid items.
I have had two colleagues both left stranded because of the electric handbrake in their vw´s.

A friend of mine who is a Tesla Geek and always bragging as to what his Tesla can do drove up into the mountains and needed to recharge to be able to get home. He parked at the charging station to find the cap wouldn't open to get access to the charge port, he started going through the menu options on the screen and something caused the screen to go into gobbledygook shutting down completely. He calls Tesla and gets through to Delhi who pass him to Mumbai who say they will work on it, after 3 hours they call him back to say they can't access the onboard computer and will send an engineer out to him. Another hour later the nearest Tesla dealer (Denver) calls him to say they can't get there till the next day and for him to find a hotel for the night. So he eventually gets into a hotel and stays the night, the next day they arrive late in the afternoon do some wizardry and after 10 minutes get the car back working, he then has to wait another 3 hours to get enough charge to drive home. After all that inconvenience the real insult to injury was 3 weeks later he receives a ticket for $400 from the authorities for parking his Tesla at a charging station when it was not charging. For some reason he doesn't brag as much now.

KISS is my view but car companies other than MMC seem to love this dermot.

What Irks me is when I quietly turn to sport mode when Mrs IMHO isn’t looking, the display in my Beemer decides it has to announce what I’ve done to everyone in the car for what seems like an age.

Set the default as sport?

Whilst I agree with all that has been said about the touchscreens now fitted to modern cars, perhaps I can be a little pedantic, in that it is very likely that the new Golf 8, the subject of Heinz' first post, probably has steering wheel buttons for the volume control in addition to the touch screen bar, I doubt the a/c control is duplicated though.

So I`ve got a question concerning that.
I always add the "and" to avoid stupid to be refereed at as a noun.
At the best to be referred as a noun describing me in person. And I don´t like to be referred to as stupid.
Ok - from time to time it might be spot on but...
