What type of ball joint separator tool is recommended? It looks like a few folks have first hand experience replacing theirs on the Three Wheeler. There are forks, devices with screws, what works best for the M3W?

I don't like the Fork Separaters as you need to hit them hard sometimes and they damage the surroundings slightly too much. I tried one of the top-down-bolt-into-a-captive-holder type, but these don't fit very well. In fact I tried all of these and NONE of them worked, so tight was the interference fit;\

These didn't work for me!

However, success for me came best with a 3-Arm Puller, as it can be held centrally onto the top of the balljoint by unscrewing the top nut a little so thgat it holds the puller driver centrally, plus the arms fitted nicely under each side of the top wishbone. Something like this;

I have used the 3 arm puller as described above with success.

I also have one the same as Rog G but it must be about 40 odd years old now and is still separating ball joints easily. It does the suspension uprights and track rod ends with no problems or damage.

Me too, except mine's only about 30 years old!

I have one of those too used it recently on the Toyota Tank, so I alternate between the two depending on the job.

I'm with Rog and Planenut. Got mine in the late 70's

Agree with this type. Got mine in the late 1970s and it’s stamped MOWOG which, I think, means it’s a BMC / BL service tool. I believe the Sykes Pickavant one is the same model. Never failed to separate the joint
