"fitted a small gps tracker which looks just like a relay. It has a sim card in, so you can track, it tells you if the car moves, it also allows you via the app to cut the fuel. 20 quid plus sim card"

Interesting, Which one is it please?

The issue with the more basic GPS & a SIM is that the insurance companies don't recognise them as an 'approved' security system.

I will look at all the ideas posted - many thanks. Obviously I'd rather not have a tracker (I've had them before on other cars as an insurance requirement) and they're a pain.

I have my SS with them, me and the memsahib, no tracker, agreed value £120K plus the usual bits and bobs all for £253 p.a.

I have emailed them - thanks for the tip. smile

Having some pratting about with Direct Line for a quote - they don't have the Plus 6 listed on line and the operator can't find it, suspect the Plus 4 listed is the older one - referred to back office - awaiting a call back.

David, have you tried the Mog specialists listed in Miscellany, for comparison ?

Yes for the Aero think it was Gott and Wynn - they wanted close to a grand and a tracker fitting so I ran a standard comparison quote and Admiral came out at something like £450.

Now my thinking goes something like this - because I haven’t had a claim for 25 years I dont care if when I need insurance it is crap because I have had many years of cheap cover with no claims which is better than having good cover with claims.

How funny, I have just fitted my second tracker today, like GARYMYNARD'S it can cut off the fuel remotely. This is not an insurance requirement, and nor would it be recognised as approved, but gives me some peace of mind since I am an outside on the road keeper, and travel to new places everyday to work. Also another backup for finding the car again! This https://www.amazon.co.uk/SinoTrack-...8HWF/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 was easy to set up, and yes it actually does cut the fuel, so if you see your car disappearing down the road then at least you can stop it! I know, how many "old" Morgans get stolen anyway!? It was a bit of fun fettling, and impressed my 9 year old son with the magic engine stop!!

My insurance is due also, 1st Central seem to cater for my needs, with 30,000 miles/year stated, replacement keys and European RAC recovery- ever the optimist! all for about £470

I had an old Mobile phone hidden in the car as a tracker, but it kept turning itself off and the tracking software I was using was a bit hit and miss.

Bought one of those sinotrack thingys - the basic model so no 'cut off' stuff (something else to go wrong!). Very easy to set up, and although I've not gone anywhere with it yet, the tracking interface looks good.Simple three wire connection too.
