Correct. But when I go to Ernie the seats are set for me, Lady HB has something similar to a credit card so if she is using it, the seats automatically set for her...and no phone needed...
Paranoia strikes now though if eg nipping from car to letter box without the phone due to panic thinking you’re going to locked out (ignoring the fact that someone could steal the car if they nipped in behind you). Previously I was in the habit of taking the key out of the ignition instinctively.....
HB When I lived in the US I had a Lincoln Continental that recognised either mine or my wife’s key fob and set everything accordingly. It was great until I got in the car one day with my wife’s key, I’m 6’4 and she’s 5’2, my nose left a wide smudge on the windscreen, there was no cancel button.

I forgot to mention that the Mercedes C Class key fob never has to leave my pocket and the car is unlocked by touching the door handle, then the car is started by pushing a button.
I wonder if my phone can be made to replace the key fob?

These phone Apps are'nt all they should be, the BMW one was at times a complete PiA when it wouldn't link to the main server & then send the command to the car (it doesn't go direct phone to car)
One example, to save flattening the battery, if you wanted to de-ice the car & set the heater going as soon as you jumped out to scrape the 'screen it shut down because you'd opened the door (FFS !)
So the only other option was to preheat using the App, but of course it's commute time & everyone else is trying to do the same and the BMW server can't handle all the requests & sends you "puter says no"

I just like simple cars with switches. Me too, mate. The new project will be on twin Webers along with points.. (I may be persuaded to the dark side of electronic ignition, maybe...) A renewed energy now..
