I asked on facebook, but will run this by here too: If my options for insurance are State Farm (as motorcycle insurance) or Grundy (as classical car), which is better? About the same cost: State Farm would only insure "assessed valued" and Grundy for set value. State Farm I call and speak to an agent (human voice), Grundy I call and get an answering machine. Grundy is "pleasure drives allowed to and from events. clubs, shows" but no "errands or drives to work, etc." Any advice? I am hearing that Grundy is trustworthy and probably better,but the restrictions on use scare me.

I went with progressive. I just called our agent and she found that for me. I don't have restrictions. It is on the same policy as my motorcycles. I have had antique cars in the past and they had restrictions and I was never comfortable driving the car. I think restrictions do two things. One it keeps you from just enjoying your car the way you want to enjoy it. 2. It creates a loop hole for the insurance company to contest a claim. Are you just sold on the two companies you have stated? Have you explored other options?

I second on Progressive, I've called them and they will insure the M3W, and a few members here have them. Hagerty will also ensure the M3W. However, I spoke with one rep that stated they wouldn't, and then called my agent, who confirmed they would. I have another car insured through Hagerty so I am pursuing both these options. My car is on order so I haven't pulled the trigger on either quite yet.

I,m with Liberty and they use Safeco to write my Morgan and my motorhome. No restrictions and declared value.

I have it on progressive now and at least in Michigan, they only pay liability (and so my car's value is not covered at all: no comprehensive no collision). So I would like to have the car covered for repairs in case of accidents. That't great that progressive covers you guys in your states. I think these big firms buy from bigger underwriting firms and it must change form state to state? I will check out Liberty. I spoke with an agent with All State and she said they could not find anyone who would sell for the 3 wheeler, and in her opinion do NOT go with State Farm (because of "assessed value") and go with Grundy because they will pay comprehensive to an agreed value. the more stories and advice I get the better.....much appreciated people!

I have had Hagerty since 2015. Insure an agreed upon value. No driving restrictions.

I recently got my M3W and went through finding insurance. I went with Condon Skelly. I have no restrictions on driving and it’s an agreed value policy. I did specifically ask for no driving restrictions. Grundy, Haggerty, and Progressive were more expensive with Progressive being outrageously expensive...I think 2x Condon Skelly.

Make sure your "declared value" is an agreed value there is a difference in the terminology and that you will receive full payout if the worst happens. My Moggies are insured with Haggerty, when I blew the M3W engine the new engine cost $10,000 which was covered by the policy minus the deductible of $1500, I was quite pleased with that.

As an aside a friend of mine got hit by a Deer while riding his BMW Motorcycle which was totaled, luckily for him his leathers saved the day except for a broken arm. Anyway Progressive paid out just under half of the purchase price of the bike which was six years old a cautionary tale on what are values and not, its all in the small print.

Have had Hagerty on my cars for 14 years after suffering a bad experience with another classic car insurance company. They have been great all these years.

I had Condon & Skelly with '28 Aero and '64 +4 4 seater, very happy with them but when I got my 5 speeder in 2013 I had to switch to Hagerty as C & S would no longer cover 3 wheelers. Very happy with Haggerty also. Glad to hear C & S has reverted back to allowing 3 wheelers.
