On the other hand, I've got over 40,000 miles on mine without the cooling kit and have never had skip fire kick in. Incidentally, the fan is set to kick in at low (or zero) speed rather than just being triggered by rising engine temperature. I don't know if temperature alone will actually trigger it. I'll add that the shrouding that the kit adds behind the engine does provide more even cooling of the cylinders when running at speed than without.

We also have no urban cooling kit on our early 2012 car and have only encountered skip-fire once when stuck in a long/slow traffic jam. Given that limited experience (inc running in a hot Southern France summer), we installed a simple fan mounted on the grill inside the cowl and switch this on when in jams as a preventive measure. Another factor that helps may be the G56 exhaust which presumably takes more heat away from the engine....

Likewise - I have my own manual fan mounted on the grill to blow a lot of air onto the back of the engine when required. But the biggest cause of heat build-up for sure are the exhaust restrictions, so once they are gone, most of the problems are alleviated too in my experience. Note that for the grill-mounted fan to be effective it needs to be able to draw air from behind the blades primarily, necessitating a hole to be cut in the solid front panel on the bonnet. Without this air routing, it would otherwise have to be drawn around the sides of the fan and this is very inefficient. Moreover, clearing hot air from the under-bonnet area can only help the overall cooling process, as I am constantly surprised just how hot that oil tank makes the under-bonnet space after a decent run.

I asked my dealer to install the urban cooling kit and I am looking at replacing the rear tire as well.
I hope to pay him the balance this week and then I am on a count down to delivery!

I hope to pay him the balance this week and then I am on a count down to delivery! As I said before, if its still on the original 2012 rear tyre then definitely get it replaced. It's then a good idea to put a puncture sealant such as PunctureSafe in the new rear. Its worth being aware that the urban cooling fan will always run once the engine gets up to about 200f and your speed is below 10 mph so don't worry if you hear it running every time you stop. Above 10 mph the fan switches off and the shroud duct air to the rear of the cylinders. Good to hear you're closing in on delivery and don't forget to post some

In May we will be driving trough your neck of the woods, but not on our Morgans, but a two week motorcycle trip. You might consider joining us in June up at Shenandoah NP http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthread...kway-va-m3w-rally-2-6-june-21#Post687925

There is just so many directions you can go on upgrades. I like fiddling with the Morgan so not an issue with the Morgan. The good news it is fun making it your own which is the way Harleys used to be though maybe they still are. What is fabulous about the Morgan is that it is a blast to drive and you will not see a lot on your journeys.
For upgrades some of my favorites so far have been the Ohlin shocks as it really tunes up the ride. Mine came with Stage 1 from the factory if not I would be on that tomorrow. I added the stage 2 cams, roller rockers and a tuneable ECU also transformative. LED lights are a good plug and play option as well. If want to live dangerous and not wear a helmet I would suggest getting some kind of pad for the hoop so it does not knock you senseless. There are some nice leather options that you can ship from the UK.
Of course I would also cruise through what Emil from MorganCustoms has as his stuff is all great and he is a great guy to deal with. I would of course grab an oil cooler. Also Emil's fuel line upgrade is also a solid item to buy as it smoothed out my engine and made it start much easier. By the way Rodger is spot on come up to the Shenadoah ride. If Emil is there I am sure he will help you out.

I dont have the UKC & in 15k miles never encountered skip fire. So Bluebricked your statement " I actually look to see if the UCK is installed on M3Ws for sale - if it is not installed that tells me the owners never really drove the cars much." is not acurate. It maybe valid wherever you live but not on the glacier. This year my car has moved twice, collecting it from getting lower half repainted & a week later 12 miles to local town. Since then the weather & roads have been to bad to get it down the hill back up again. I now have to decide should should I get the MOG decal replaced or leave the rear end bare.
