Pops and bangs are no substitute for a nice note. Another thing that makes me laugh are the dump valve whooshes that people create. OK for racing to help turbo effectiveness but on a road car? They make me think the car has asthma.

Or Inconel perhaps ?

Definitely Ti. There was a section showing how the exhaust supplier developed both the sound and heat treatment to get the desired purple colour. Ti is sometimes used in jewellery and colour variations produced. A thin oxide layer is formed and, as with oil on water, it introduces colours due to thin film effects on the wavelength of white light constituents. The sound box was an extra box just to get the desired sound.
