Richard, we should look for a bulk deal. Libra Motive (remember them) fitted a Librands short shift to my zetec 4/4. What a change.
Sent an email enquiry to MGW in the States. Get the feeling they are a smallish concern dealing direct with the public so unlikely to have a UK importer, although I did ask.
As far as I can see this selector bolts directly to the gearbox but unlike the factory one which appears to use a metalastic bush, this one has solid bushing to top mount lugs and extra lower supports picking up on side mounts of gearbox end casing. As well as a better engineered product its, rightly I believe, claimed to give more positive feel as well as shorter throw to gear selection. Check out their video's.
Factory throw 3rd to 4th measured at a tad under 4 inches. This one 3 inches or less depending on which of the four equally priced variants you choose. Surprised when I measured height of standard gearshift which comes out at a tall 7¾ inches from top of tunnel to centre of ball.
Just hankering after the excellent MX5 box I had on my M3W which was so good you put in extra gear changes just for the sheer fun of it. Won't solve the rev hang but one step at a time for me. Cain is interested as well. We need to see how easily the gearbox tunnel is to remove since virtually no access from below.
