2002 4/4 1800 Zetec Blacktop - Can anyone advise me on the location of the horn ?

On mine it's behind the front bumper in the middle hanging down from the panel that forms the bottom of the radiator housing.

It is easily visible and accessible if you but your head under the middle of the bumper or number plate if you haven't got a bumper.

To remove it you would probably have to take the grill out as it bolts through the bottom plate and I don't think its a captive nut.
Could be wrong on that as I've never removed it.

I fitted mine directly behind the grille

Many thanks Bob. Unfortunately problem still not solved. MOT due and no horn. Checked all connections and fuse. Looks like a new horn.

Fault finding.

Is power getting to the horn when the button is pressed?

Check with multi meter.

If yes, it is probably the horn at fault. Replace or strip and fault find on the bench.

If no, check the horn push button contacts and recheck all the connection including replace the fuse.

You could also connect a battery across the horn terminals to isolate the horn from a wiring problem.

Just work through it methodically and you will find the problem.

New horns are not very expensive.

MMC ones are crap & get a lot of road spray. You might be able to reach the nut / bolt with a spanner without removing the grill.

Note: The horn normally has a constant live feed and the horn button on the steering wheel merely connects the other horn terminal to earth. So start by applying a multimeter between earth and each of the terminals on the horn to see if you have a live one. If so, briefly connect the other terminal to earth and see if the horn works. If it does, then it’s possible that the earth connection has come adrift in the steering wheel. If it doesn’t and you have established that a live feed is present, then its probably the horn itself.
Standard fitment is around £10 from the likes of Holden.

If all else fails try changing the fuse. If there's a hairline crack it will test ok, but fail under load.

Also check the connector in the steering wheel boss if it's a push there horn.
