From 2030 you will not be able to buy a NEW IC engined car. No quite - present ruling is new hybrids will be allowed to be sold up to (including) 2035. Looks like Lexus are safe for a few years then & don't need to panic to finalise pure EV's (yes, I know they are about to launch the UX300e)

Those bmw i3 things are very cheap now, used, I'm half tempted to try one just to see. But I'd need to buy another plus 8 at the same time to stay sane. Nick

I drove an early i3, it was a lot more fun than I expected. It encourages anticipation as with good road-craft it is possible to drive it with only the throttle, if it is sent for maximum energy recovery. It looks modern, is comfortable and reasonably spacious. The batteries are holding up well.
If you want a Golf sized used electric car do look at one...

If BMW had kept the i3 with the backup engine I'd be ordering one next year. Friend is on his second one but will not be getting another since the backup version has been dropped. I think it was almost the perfect combo.

I’m yet to be converted, but I saw a brand new Polestar today, it looked amazing, that’ll be the one for me.

Woah! who replaced the normal TM stick in the muds????? Topped my Honda e up with some sunshine today. The original Hydrogen Fuel Cell! I actually prefer the Turismo to the standard Taycan myself, slightly out of my league though

The Polestar 1 we saw at the FOS was a beautifully finished car and knocked Tesla into the lower league, it's the only hybrid I have liked the look of..not cheap though.

I think it was almost the perfect combo. I keep an eye open for one though we don't see many up for sale here. They're still fetching too much for me to justify the outlay at present. Lots of problems listed with the IC engine, either due to not being used, or being ragged on long runs, according to reports.

After a short access to a Kia Hybrid I realised that my driving style would need changing. I’d need to learn how the EV/ICE linked to get the EV benefits with sensible progress. More to learn than the usual throttle/gear/torque/speed combination for an ICE car. An extended test period would be nice. One downside. I am waiting to see if I get a speeding NIP! I used a courtesy hybrid and did a kickdown to speed up a hill. Good surge. As I crested the hill I passed a camera van. I THINK I dropped speed enough ( it was facing the other way). I think down to 33mph as I passed it from about 37. 8 weeks ago. But it can take longer to go through the third party and possible delays from the NIP issue as a result. I think there is a 6 month limit for prosecution. Our local enforcement seem up to speed (pun intended) for issuing NIPS so fingers crossed. An SAC is the likely offer though if caught out.My fault in underestimating the EV power surge!

Yep EVs are very fast with full torque at 1 rpm. The problem i found was without the engine noise it is very easy to go a tad fast.
