I want to carry spare relays for the fuel injection and fuel pump for my '93 +8 (so, Lucas 14 CUX), and in an attempt to avoid mounting an expedition into the murky depths of the passenger footwell, does anyone know from memory the correct relays, please? Are they Bosch 0332014112 (which seems to have been replaced by Bosch 986AHO602), or AFU2913L, or something else entirely?

When I acquired the vehicle I was given a pair of Durite relays, which I was told were correct for it. However, the illustration on the top of these relays shows that the diode protects terminal 85, whereas in the Bosch relays (assuming that these are, in fact, correct) the diode appears to protect terminal 86.

My grasp of relays is minimal (as you will have discerned from the above!), so please feel free to correct any (or all) of this.

Since terminals 85 and 86 are the two legs of the relay coil and the diode has to be fitted across same and reverse biased to normal operation in order to quench the back emf from the collapsing magnetic field of same, you need not worry in this respect since I'm not aware of any positive earth diode relays.

Terminal 86 will be the positive supply BTW.

The diode is across the coil, terminals 85 & 86.

Have a look at relays on, say 12voltplanet website and you will see.

Hi Dave, sorry can't help with the references at the mo, I think they are on GoMog (?) but I had a non starting car and replaced the fuel relays with brand new Bosch units in Lucas boxes, still no joy despite attempts by a mechanic and an auto sparkie. Had to do a Factory visit and they got it running within minutes with their Chinese made relays!
Apparently the Bosch units disintegrate on the shelf with age hence my problems.

Thank you very much indeed for taking the time to reply, and the wise words therein. On the basis of the information, I'll keep my Durite relays as spares, as they appear fit for purpose....and hopefully I won't need to use them.
