What is the correct oil pressure for my 4/4 with a 1800 blacktop Zetec at the moment I’m getting 4 bar on tick over and 6 bar when driving it seems high to me. ?

Assuming the engine is fully up to temperature, it is high.
Should be more like 2 bar and 4 - 5 bar at normal operating temperatures.
There is a pressure relief valve that could be sticking or it could be a faulty sensor or gauge.
Have you checked all the connectors. A high resistance would show as higher pressure.
Is this something new or has it always been like it?

I only got the car last year and due to the restrictions she didn’t get out much so assume it’s been like it since I’ve had the car. I’ve checked the contact on the sensor all ok. I’m going to do a oil change next week and plan to remove the prv and clean, I got under her today but struggling to locate the prv and can’t find any information on the web to help, picture etc.

It is a long time since I had my zetec 1994 4/4 but from memory was that of 2bar warm and 6 bar cold. My T16 +4 would once went to 8 bar. I stopped & restarted & all was well, I assumed that was a sticking PRV in the oil circuit.
It could just be the gauge if analogue.

It is a analogue gauge, I would like to just confirm it’s not the prv that’s if I can find the plug it’s hiding behind. If anybody can help on it’s location would be a great help it’s the blacktop 1800 2004
