Hi all, after a break of 25 years when I last owned a Morgan (a 1982 +8 3.5), I am buying a 1997 +8 3.9 in British Racing Green with chrome wire wheels and can't wait to get my hands on it!

First things, first, I need insurance and have got a quote from Gott and Wynne and Headley Group. Did I read somewhere that some insurers insist you put the roof on to be insured? As I remember that being so fiddly, I have no intention of having the roof on at all! Welcome some guidance on which insurer is the most flexible. drive

Talk to Karen Waller at Headley. I don't think they expect the hood up

I've never come across the "hood up" rule, Gott and Wynnn told me when I had the roadster, never to lock the car when the hood is up, as the cost of replacing a slashed hood is far greater than anything likely to be in the car.
Parking in dodgy areas they suggested a steering wheel dick lock.
But to be honest, Morgans are rarely stolen.

This is referred to “ hood warranty” or similar, and this would be a standard exclusion under most motor policies on the market, and is very restrictive, I.e if going to pay for your petrol you would be expected to fully secure and close the hood.

Ive just renewed with Gott & Wynn this year, and I know they have removed this from their policy.

Any chance of a picture of your steering wheel dick lock Peter?
Sounds quite uncomfortable, especially on a hairpin bend...

Nick, I didn't buy one as I had a 1970s KrookLok and used that when parking somewhere I wasn't sure about.
Mostly hotels.
Useless, but at least it shows willing.
