Is it safe to mention F1 again? I watched some of the 3 days of pre season testing and learnt nothing... other than it may be that Red Bull give Mercedes a run for their money this year. So, I'll watch the first race and see how much real racing there is! I don't really want to watch Mr Hamilton dominate the season, again.

Can't draw too many conclusions from pre-season testing but the new Honda engine seems to be quick and reliable so far.
I'm optimistic about the coming season but we will have a better idea in 2 weeks time.

Sadly I watched the whole lot, eight hours a day for the three days. Loved it. Merc look like they’re in a spot of bother and will have to work hard for the next two weeks. Red Bull appear favourite but I really hope that Perez is a thorn in Max’s side - I’m afraid I dislike Max, despite his incredible race skills, and his personality/language/attitude (probably Jos to blame). Assuming Merc get their act together, Perez could really be a disruptor to their race strategy (pitting etc) which will take some predictability out 🤞 I am excited for the season as, bar Haas, all other teams appear to be compressed together such should make for v exciting races to come. Can’t wait! HB

He does, and with a far better car than the other two rookies (and I’m not talking about that Young Driver Alonso nor Perez). Yuki was v good at getting the DRS opened as soon as he hit the main straight which could be argued distorted the lap times. But everyone else could have done the same of course. Nonetheless a fine showing in v restricted testing period. I almost hope that Mazepin continues with his weaving antics exhibited in F2 (without the sulking and face punching) just to see how quickly he learns that the “Grosjean approach “ isn’t acceptable or safe in F1.... or sketchy as the honey badger put it at Silverstone... Yes, also looking forward to some closer racing from all the teams and seeing Max pushed by a more competitive (or combative?) team mate. Always difficult to tell until the first few races are over.

I would add that McLaren is worth following and as an aussie I'm looking forward to a good season from Daniel Ricciardo. Can't wait!

There are some very good preview programs on Sky ( via u-tube for us cheap skates ) where Max is really being pushed as the one to watch this season. Unfortunately for me there has been very little praise for Ferrari. All the pundits are consigning their season to the bin!!!

I think the first real idea we will get about this years pecking order will be 2nd practice on Friday.
That takes place at the same time as the Saturday qualifying runs so the teams normally use that session to get the set up sorted for qualification as track temperatures etc should be similar.
I think Red Bull could be serious contenders this year especially with Perez as back up to Verstappen. I think he might even give him a bit of a push at times.
The Mercedes didn't look at all happy in pre-season testing but I would never underestimate them.
I wish Ferrari could get their act together. Whilst I am not a Ferrari fan, I do love to see them battling it out at the front.
Bring it on.
