Hello, Further to my other questions I have another on 4/4 Sigma engine service events / schedule.
I have seen a possible car purchase but unclear about the service tasks that have been completed on it. I have just been shown stamps in the service book but not a breakdown of actions completed for each stamp, I need to go back with more questions. Also seem to be a couple of gaps in the annual service history.
So ... What is the recommended brake and clutch fluid change, two years?? Very important - timing and auxiliary belt replacement intervals; Engine oil is I assume every 12 months? What about rear axle and gearbox oil change / check please? Anything I have forgotten to ask?!

Re the timing belt I found this quota some years back: „On the 1.4/1.6 Duratec (including the TI-VCT) Petrol engine the timing belt interval was changed by Ford from 100.000 Miles/10 Years to 100.000 Miles/8 Years. The reason for this is that between 8 and 10 years many timing belts failed which resulted in major engine damage.“
The auxiliary belt I would just (let) check by view if it is good any longer. I change the brake fluid every second year, no clutch fluid so far changed, working still fine. Engine oil all 12 months is what I do. Others may know better regarding the diff oil and gearbox oil changes, I did it once three years ago, after four years of age of the car, but I think it is ok now for a longer period of time.
I would check all the nuts and bolts on the underbody, including the leaf springs, etc., once a year. Spray the leaf springs with chain oil from time to time. Check the front brake pads once a year. They last a long time in the rear.

Grease Kingpins of course every 1000 miles though I do mine every 500. An easy DIY job.
I changed my Auxiliary Belt at 7 years for peace of mind though the original looked fine. The Original Gates belts are about £11.00 and take 5 minutes to fit.
Check exhaust rubber bobbins and rear rubber mounts. Easy DIY job and You can buy the 4 bobbins and rear mount for around £15.00
Air Filter change on mileage/condition. I have a K&N in the factory housing. About £36.00 for life.
Tyres I changed all mine at 8 years though they had only done 13,000 miles and werent half worn. Full set of 4 Vredesteins around £200.00 fitted

Where do you live Harry (an approximate location in your profile is sufficient) then we might be able to point you in the right direction for tyres and other car services

Lifes Motors are on the other side of the estuary so I guess they are geared up. Was more thinking about a puncture repair when touring out of area. H

H My village garage fitted my tyres and balanced my wire wheels but he is geared for servicing all types of performance cars. Lifes motors dont fit tyres but would no doubt tell you who does their tyres.
