No mention of fish based deterrents....yet!
Maybe horses and lions will come as alternatives to fish based thread drift?
Even combinations to include Lion fish or Mustangs?

Be careful about recommending cats. the papers are full of Car owners having their Cats stolen. They can do it in 5 mins using angle grinders

Sospan ... I did contribute one sensible post before drifting off .... living in the country we get the odd mouse incident each early winter as they seek warmth .... they don't come in the house due to the cats but rattle about between the walls, much to the annoyance of Mrs Image ... TBH I've never found a deterrent that works for long .... trapping will remove the problem (either fatally or so as to release 100yds away ... we do the later) .... they've been an ever-present bugbear since the Cave and aren't likely to go anywhere soon.

TBM .... that's a sturdy horse! .... any Clydesdale in there I wonder? .... something big-boned anyway!!.

Looks like Shire / Shire cross to me ?

Shoes for our two cost enough (currently at £80 a set) - I would hate to think what they would cost for her.

I bought her as a fully papered Shire, however all my Welsh Horsey friends reckon she had a touch of thoroughbred in her. She certainly didn't have a typical Shire temperament - very skitty! She once cleared a 5 bar gate with a standing hop due to a VERY scary plastic bag.

I think I was paying £60 a set back in the late '90's and that was with a very friendly local farrier!

I was gutted when she had to go, I couldn't bear to sell her (even though she was worth a few quid), so had to give her away to someone who I knew would look after her.

Clydesdale/Shire crosses are at a premium for the riding school and trekking people it would appear ..... larger number of 'heavy' punters they can't put on their traditional sized hacks.

Fine big horse .... I can see them jumping a ditch and two fields in terror of a hosepipe because it looks like a snake to their ancestral memory .... but got no idea why blowing plastic bags kick them off .... not like the Jellyfish has ever been a major predator of wild horses!! 🙂

p.s. I meant to add with the Lion Poo in the garden I haven't seen a leopard for a while out there so it must work.

We have 2 Siamese cats, and no mice or rats in the garden.
In the 6 months between the loss of our previous siamese cat, Merlin, and the arrival of these two the rats and mice returned.
We also have no problem with rabbits.

We also have a horse, a 15.2 Connemara/Irish sport horse cross, about 1/8 sport horse we think. Confusingly he is also called Merlin.




The rider is our daughter, when she was over for Christmas and New Year.

That's a squeaky-clean horse ..... I've never had a grey .... mine would be somewhat dingy!!

There seems a lot of love for the other form of horsepower on this forum!

In that photo...

He loves rolling in mud and sleeping on warm poo... there are times when he could be a painted horse.
But he is a wonderful friend and a great ride. Just about bomb proof, his idea of a spook is to go stiff for a second, shake his head and carry on.
He is 21, very fit and well, should make 25 or more, but God knows what we will do when he passes on.
