I have asked this question before but no answers; what are MMC saying to buyers of the run out models about future availability of spares, particularly engine spares?

As one of the alpha testers (delivery April 2012), we have had our share of troubles (all the ones well documented elsewhere) but thus far (silly thing to say) have always got home inc from several long trips in France/Spain. Suspect that a combination of some empathy with things mechanical, a can-do DIY attitude + suitable spares pack plus regular/wide reading/sharing of the advice in this forum will see you through.
No regrets at all but we are fortunate that we are in the position where we can afford this rather expensive/demanding toy...not sure we would do it again at today's sticker price as that feels quite a bit higher than alternative toys compared with when we placed our order and paid a deposit on what was then a concept ... this was on Sat 4th Dec 2010!

After listing all my woes earlier😩 I have just got back from a 50mile trip to look at a job and want to add that the car has never gone better and its such a great thing to drive and just look at and tinker with etc.😁

2016 with about 7500 miles on it.
On my third bevel box. First one replaced because of excessive noise. Second came from the factory with one of the mounting holes stripped out. It even had a note written on the box in marker which said "stripped out" (with an arrow pointing to the mounting hole). Third box has been quiet.
Replaced the seal on the third box because it was leaking
Found the the orange "vent" on the side of the box was plugged. It is a two piece affair that is glued together. In my case, they used too much glue and plugged the vent.
Installed Phil's bevel box mount. This helps hold the bevel box in place. Also make it easier to center the belt and keep it in place.
Had a spacer made to move the rear sprocket to the left a bit. In the stock configuration, if the belt rode to the right side of the sprocket, it could touch the sidewall of the tire and chew it up.
If the belt rides too far to the left and puts pressure on the aluminum flange, it will work harden and break off. This will result in a pleasant bell like sound as the parts hit the highway.
Had some new flanges made of steel, thicker than the aluminum ones.
Replaced a rear tire that had the sidewall chewed up.
Replaced the gas gauge sensor with the longer one to try and improve the accuracy of the gas gauge.
Recalibrated the speedometer
Plan on replacing both the fuel pump and rectifier before summer.
Other than the above, it has been problem free.

It is a sad reflection on MMC that they are still producing the last M3W's with the same well known faults as the first ones, weak fuel pumps, fragile transmission, inefficient exhausts and air filters, poor quality shock absorbers, wobbly rear view mirrors....the list goes on. All this on a £45,000 + toy that requires another £5000+ spending on it from new to sort it out and make (almost) reliable. Several of the owners of the last few M3W's are replacing earlier cars, how many have got the standard, off the line product? All that said, I still love my M3W and wouldn't be without it. One day it will go perfectly....then I may sell it but I don't see that happening soon.
Planenut, I know from my many years on this site that you've been an inspiration to many. I do question your remark about the transmission though. Of all my years here, the only item related to a transmission has been a rear output shaft seal. Well at least that I can remember that is. What exactly seems to be fragile about the transmission in your opinion? Have a great Sunday evening! Dan

Dan,
I think Planenut refers to the torque compensator and bevel box when he says 'transmission'. 'Transmission' to most north americans is what the rest of the world calls a gearbox. To the rest of the world transmission usually means everything between the engine and the driven wheel(s). I've read some pre WW2 SAE white papers that use transmission in the RoW sense, btw.

You are right Bitsobrits, I have nothing but admiration for the Mazda gearbox as it is the only bit of the M3W, other than a seal as Dan mentions, that is never mentioned, it works perfectly with no problems🤞. I was referring to all the other bits, Compensator, Clutch, Bevel Box, Belt Drive when I mentioned the fragile transmission, not the Mazda gearbox.
