Yesterday I noticed that my engine light had gone out, it had been working perfectly for more than three years with the light on with erroneous error codes that came back immediately after reset, the complete replacement of the engine and the injection unit by a G56 hadn't changed anything, the speedometer started working again so it had been more than a year since I had seen it working I just put the ignition back on today to see if the chekengine bulb was working went OK. So good news then?

Surely you will get a "check engine" light if you have no speedometer input to the ECU. Amongst other things the vehicle speed input controls the idle fuel mapping. With the speedometer working the ECU will have all it's required inputs again to work correctly?

After 8 years of operation, the odometer has operated for about 4 years intermittently and has never been specially associated with the chekengine.
