You need to make the booking with the MOT CENTRE (GARAGE)
It needs to be recorded in their schedule diary, so if stopped or in
an incident the police can record the evidence for themselves and
more importantly the insurance.

Make sure that when you SORN a vehicle that is insured you tell the insurance company. I needed to renew my insurance last year and in a conversation with my insurers mentioned that I was planning to SORN my car when the tax ran out for a few months then re tax IT at a later date
, to my surprise they declined cover whilst on a SORN.

Riverstar that is gold dust, I use mine all year round but for those that choose not too that is pretty damn important to check with their insurers.
It certainly wouldn't have occurred to me to do so as it's tucked up in a garage.

Seems a bit daft of them as it would be a much lesser risk.

I agree, I'm not suggesting that every company take the same view just saying mine did so it's worth checking.

Good catch....

I did contact my insurance company when I put it on SORN as I wanted to find out if there might be a discount (yes, I am that cheap). No discount, but they confirmed the insurance cover whilst on SORN.

Yes, I asked the same question as some of our cars sat for 6 or 9 months unused, & got a 'puter says no, I suspect the vehicle division of insurers made a mint last year

Admiral gave a £25 rebate to every one of their customers last year, due to the lower than normal level of claims.

My daughter is one of them, although ironically as a key worker she has been doing more miles than usual.
