I don't want to speak to a call centre jockey who was selling double glazing yesterday and car insurance today, i want someone who understands his business. Mention of a the car spec seems to cause sharp intakes of breath and ooh, I'll have to come back to you, clearly someone who doesn't know thier business.....an irritating waste of time. Perhaps i need reprogramming🤐
The business model is based on what Joe Public wants for his Fiesta - low prices. So the front end is standardised to cheap "call centre jockeys" handling standard vanilla cars. The risk is examined in detail when you have a claim - thats when the professionals appear. In the old days you spoke to underwriters at insurance companies not min wage types at intermediaries like brokers.
Premium strikes me as a expensive. The main risk is the small chance of a very large 3rd party claim and that doesnt really depend too much on the car but as far as the car bit is concerned I pay just a little bit more than that for the Fezza with at least twice the bhp, way more expensive parts and likely higher write off value.
