Went to put fresh petrol in the tank. Shell garage across town. Returned home via a 30 mile detour to blow the cobwebs away. Car running well. First drive “ for the hell of it” for many weeks. It felt great , roof down, wind in the hair ( I had a haircut last week) smiles.
Patio being laid from Tuesday so next spin won’t be until that is done. Weather permitting just a couple of days. smile

We took advantage of the beautiful weather today (tomorrow the temperature will drop just above freezing) and made a trip to the Wachau, where the apricot trees are currently in blossom:

We crossed the Danube on a small ferry:

On the way home, there was some excitement: after a photo stop, the Morgan wouldn't start. scared

When I pressed the start button, nothing happened at all. ooo

The power supply seemed to work fine. Several attempts to start the car were unsuccessful (the spare key was at home).

Checked the main fuse for the starter: o.k.

Swapped the relays for the fuel pump and immobiliser: no improvement.

Then checked all fuses. After removing and reinserting the fuse for the immobilizer, tried to start: success joy

Switched the engine off again and started it again: the engine started reproducibly.

Conclusion: In case of starting problems, try to remove the fuse of the immobiliser and reinsert it (apparently causes a kind of reset).

It could be the ring by the switch that connects to the immobiliser. DaveW posted a thread on that.

Just rub the ignition key fob flat against the barrel and the immobiliser light will extinguish.

Then you have 30 seconds to put the key in and start.

Cold weather seems to make it worse.

Thanks for the tip. I tried that, but it didn't work. Only removing and reinserting the fuse was successful.

(The pictures are not taken in the Wachau but in my garden, which is only 100 meters higher than the Wachau).
