Went for a lengthy blast in my 2015 M3W to enjoy some sunshine. Fabulous as always. When I arrived home and the car stopped moving I was clearly able to smell 'something hot'. I found my rear wheel/ brake was very hot indeed, and when I went to push the car into the garage it was hard work as the rear brake was obviously dragging. I have seen the numerous previous posts on the Forum regarding rear brake issues, and was not looking forward to having to remove the whole assembly to resolve the problem. Fine as a Winter job, but I want to use the car in better weather !
Luckily, I made a chance phone call to Phil Bleazey( such a pleasant person and incredibly knowledgeable) regarding one of his upgrades, and mentioned my rear brake problem. He immediately suggested simply changing the brake fluid before doing anything else.
I changed the fluid, flushing plenty through in the process, and the result is a total success. No binding and all is as it should be.
I suggest that if anyone else has a similar problem just try a fluid change first and foremost. It worked for me.

Might be a warning of corrosion on the pistons which can prevent them from retracting, your fluid flush is good practice every two years anyway BUT your cure will be temporary. It's a known issue with 4 wheelers which use the same rear cylinders

Agreed Jon. You can peel back the boots on the pistons as use the correct grease to help reduce the risk as well.

Standing idle over winter is the worst thing for brakes, hopefully plenty of summer use will help, if you don't use the Mog much, my tip is to just jump in every week and pump the brakes & clutch a few times

For those with experience, is part of the problem sitting in the winter with the parking brake engaged? Does the parking brake engage the front, rear or all 3 brakes?
I do have a problem with one of my newer cars, if the barking brake is engaged after a run in the rain, they sometimes stick and have to break free with a bit of motion when I next start it up.
Thanks

A whack with a rubber mallet might be a temporary fix for a sticking rear brake. Red rubber grease inside the exposed cylinder under the boot is likely to help.

Thanks that has happened with the wife's plus 8. She couldn't back it out of the garage. I had to "pop it loose" as it were.
