I went a bit of a complicated route on it to get the look I wanted. I wanted Stealth kit + 1” taller filter + Air Stinger Filter + Stealth Cover Ring. The Stealth kit is all that is functionally needed. I wasn’t able to find the Stealth cover ring so I ended up buying x-wedge stealth kit, 1” taller filter, and Harley air stinger kit (which has both Air Stinger Filter + Stealth Cover Ring) and now have extra parts I can’t use:) The 1” taller filter is a drop in replacement if you already have the stealth kit. You just need to make sure you get the threaded standoffs which extend out the holes so that the cover can be attached; accounts for the 1” additional height. The one I link to below has the standoffs. Here’s where I got everything:

Stealth kit

1” Taller filter

Harley Air Stinger kit. Looks like they are out of stock on it. You could pick any of the ‘Air Stinger Stealth Kits with Brushed Aluminum Ring’ from this list here if you want the same look.

Thanks really like your air cleaner set up. I went and ordered the same parts. 2001-2017 Harley-Davidson Big Twin w/ Cable Throttle (NO TBW) Part Number: SS170-0716

Seems like a better way to get air into the throttle body.

Post some pics when you've got it in!

Apologies for hijacking the thread but having just taken delivery of a 2012 from another Talk Mog member I'm also curious about possible upgrades. I am loving the car and it has had most of the recommended safety upgrades over the years so nothing needs urgent attention however it would be great to help the engine breathe a little better. Is drilling out the baffles and adding a better air filter really an option as suggested above or is it better to go for the full stage one engine upgrade?

thanks

Welcome! The topic of exhaust +/-'s is extensively bantered about. In short, a bafflectomy plus free-flow intake will deliver all the benefits to an otherwise stock engine; the others (MMC Stage 1, G56, etc.) are personal sound and aesthetic preferences.

The priority should be to free up the exhaust flow with either a "bafflectomey" or proprietary upgrade such as MMC, Krazy Horse or G56. Any of these will transform the engine with it running cooler, smoother and revving more freely.

The air filter is then a good to have but has much less impact.

With these "stage 1" mods there's no need to change the ECU as the standard unit has enough adaptive range to cope. If you then progress to the 569 cams of stage 2 then (unless you are extremely lucky and the factory left your ECU unlocked) you will need a new, unlocked ECU with modified mapping.

Thanks Chris and Michael, I'm re-joining Morgan ownership after a brief hiatus with Astons. I wanted a 3 wheeler back in 2014, then bought a Plus 4 instead, then a couple of Vantages and so I've gone full circle and finally returned to the 3 wheeler.

Is the bafflectomy something dealers will perform or is it a DIY home project? I'm not looking for a serious power or noise upgrade so this may be the best solution. The engine just feels a bit restricted in its standard form effectively running out of puff at 4000 rpm. You can easily drive it on the torque between 2k and 4k but it feels like the engine could give a lot more.

A bafflectomey is certainly a DIY proposition and there's of info on this site.

I would be surprised if a Morgan agent would drill the exhausts as it would want to sell you an MMC Stage 1 set; but Fairbourne Carriages near Maidstone might. They service Morgans but are not tied to the factory. I wish I had gone to them rather than a dealer for my M3W work.

Unfortunately the site linked in the thread Chris pasted above seems to have been removed.
