In England at least from Monday we are allowed to drink and eat meals outside at pubs in tables of 6.
We are off on Wed to the Bell in Kersey to support a pub built in 1378. To put that in perspective the battle of Crecy was in 1346. Poitiers was in 1356 and Agincourt in 1415. The black death was in 1348.
Kersey was a wool town producing Kersey cloth that is mentioned by Shaekespeare in Measure for Measure & Loves Labours Lost.
What a heritage to be supporting. It won't be hardship as it involves driving some lovely A & B roads with other Morgans to a real ale pub.
The week after we are at the Four Horseshoes in Thornham Magna which is from the 12th century.
But I'll also support my local.
Hopefully lots of folk on here will do the same and save our cultural heritage from the ravages of Doris & COVID before it is too late.

Something positive to come out of the Covid pandemic in the UK is that I never had a bad pint of real ale during previous lockdowns last year. Increased hygiene standards seem to have filtered all the way down to best cellar practice in serving up this excellent beverage.

It is more generous than 6, if you have two household families it can be more than 6 people.... I feel so very sorry for the city pubs with no garden.Down here in South Wiltshire almost every pub has either a garden, or a carpark that can be repurposed as a outside drinking area!! We tried to book a table at the local but they are fully booked this week. We have a booking for Friday at the Red Lion Freehouse http://www.redlionfreehouse.com/for lunch with friends... I cannot wait...

I would like to support my locals, but they're all fully booked for months. All with strict 2 hour time slots.... strange days.

Strange indeed. I guess in Suffolk on a Wed lunchtime we have till the tourists arrive a better chance. But good t to see they are busy, the ones with no gardens are really struggling. Felixstow council last time around allowed the seafront pubs to use the green between them & the sea, I hope other councils are as pragmatic.
