I see I got my Talk Morgan and Mog Talk confused in the last message which I have corrected below!

So sorry to read of your decision to pass on the Mog, that I have broken my Talk Morgan, self imposed, selective/elective mutism.
Having only made 6 post prior to this since joining the newly formed Talk Morgan on 3rd September 2006, I see I am considered to be New to Talk Morgan!!!

I recall well, frequently corresponding with you on Mog Talk and Gomog, back in the day, and meeting you whilst you were on a Bad Boys trip to Scotland, so many years ago at the Premier Inn in the Falkirk.

I hope that you are able to confound the medics as you already have done, for many more years, and that you are around to offer your bottomless knowledge to others who have a penchant for the marque.

I can understand exactly how you feel and the decisions you have to make. I'd been a motorcyclist for 40 odd years and within a short period of time about 10 years ago I suffered a bout of labyrinthitis (problem with inner ear balance) initially had problems even walking straight and then my knees went, so overnight my motorcycling days were gone. I had spent the last 30 odd years riding 2 up with the wife a great source of enjoyment having toured Europe and the USA on a Harley together

I had 3 Harleys in the garage sitting there doing nothing. I didn't want to let them go in-case I made a full recovery but recognised living only couple hundred metres of the sea, the salt air would do untold damage before long. So over time I sold my least favourite Harley, A difficult decision at the time but the right thing to do. Then a year or so later I let my second favourite Harley go. The last Harley a Fatboy sat in my garage for a few more years, giving a sense of security, a direct link to former good times and the promise of good things to come, I'd go and polish it, start it up every now and then just look and reflect on all those good times.

Whilst I made a steady recovery over the years, I found my urge to ride diminished over time as I accepted that I could no-longer support a 325 kilo Harley plus the wife as pillion riding 2 up. So I tried going solo with my mates on Sunday runs, despite them taking it much easier I just couldn't keep up especially round the twisty bits. I came to the realisation that the Harley motorcycling of my past was beyond me and with that realisation and with very little regret I sold my last Harley. It had had its time and I needed to move on.I looked for something else to replace that sense of adventure I enjoyed and so I came back to Morgans after a 25 year break. I know that I'm not as nimble or agile as I used to be, getting in and out is more of a challenge and a struggle than it used to be. I might only get maybe ten years or so of new experiences, but I'm going to enjoy it whilst I can. Then when the Morgans are beyond me, I'll look for the next new open top motoring adventure .Life is a journey of experiences and the friends you make along the way.

Colin, hats off to you and your approach to this - in my humble opinion, a positive attitude and fighting spirit is the best way forward.

your story resonates with mine: from 16 to 60 I rode bikes, there was a bike, sometimes more, in the garage most years.

Then in the late 2000s I became aware that my reactions were not what they were, and I had a couple of very silly falls in car parks, at zero speed when I overbalanced and couldn't stop the fall or move quickly enough. The last time I was trapped with my leg under the bike: no damage but I couldn't move until the bike was lifted off me.

So the bike went and the Roadster replaced it. In 2016, seduced by the beauty of the new Thruxton I bought a 12 month old one, but the sparkle wasn't there and I didn't enjoy it, so it went. I got rid of all my gear so there was no temptation. I look back and smile, but I guess at some point, probably in the next 8 to 12 years the same thing will happen with the Plus 8.
