Just curious how long the rear drive belts have been lasting for folks?
And what about the cam belts if the cam cover is vented properly?

I can't help you with life expectancy I'm afraid but I'm astonished at how resilient they seem to be. When I purchased my Brooklands Edition a couple of years ago I was concerned to find that the belt had an 8mm dia. hole in it, presumably the result of a pebble or something getting underneath it. I have covered a few thousand miles since and although the MoT examiner found it and made suitable comment, the size and shape of the hole hasn't changed and I continue to use it with confidence.(but I did buy a spare when I saw one on special offer!) I'll be interested in better informed responses to your question.

They can certainly do about 28,000 miles without too many issues. That included shredding two early alloy rear sprockets as well. Pretty sure some others on here have done more miles than that.

I've not heard of anyone wearing out a drive belt and believe based on HD experience they're good for 100,000 miles +
The cambelt should last 20 - 30k miles but there have been instances of failures at much lower mileages (there might have been a bad batch). The belt shows surface cracks first so if you check every few thousand miles you'll get (hopefully) plenty of warning.

my 05 road king had its original belt when I sold it at 89K miles

Drive belt is going on 40,000+ miles. The center has been grooved by a failing SuperMax sprocket and left in place. No problems. The cam belt has well over 30,000 miles on it with the vented cover. The first lasted about 19,000 miles with an unvented cover and showed signs of excessive heat damage where it sheered.
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.
