Sad to read that John Dawes has died at the age of 80.
An outstanding player for London Welsh, Wales and the Lions. He is still the only Captain to lead the Lions to a series win over the All Blacks in New Zealand.
As the Welsh coach he Dawes won four Five Nations titles including two Grand Slams and four triple crowns.
If you want to see him at his best watch the 1973 Barbarians v All Blacks.

Again another legend of the game. Not only a series win over the All Blacks but, the Lions won every provincial game on that tour. R.I.P JD.
