I alternate between BP, Shell and Tesco.
Around here all the fuel comes from Fawley, the difference is the additive packages. Generally speaking the "Premium" fuels have a more complex and supposedly "better" additive package.

I don't know how true it is, but Esso Super is supposed to be ethanol free in most of the UK, they do a 97 or 99 grade

Esso say "Esso super unleaded petrol (Synergy Supreme+ Unleaded 97 and Synergy Supreme+ 99 ) is ethanol free (Except in Devon, Cornwall, North Wales, North England and Scotland). We would therefore advise anyone who has concerns about the presence of ethanol in petrol to use Synergy Supreme+ – providing they do not fill up in Devon, Cornwall, North Wales, North England and Scotland. " Cheers John

We need another planet where there is ethanol-free petrol everywhere, so for people who want good petrol, great V8 engines, good whiskey and very kind ladies. Not such a patchwork of islands of a good offer where it is better. BTW there is no ethanol-free petrol anywhere in our country.

I'd have to check again next time I fill one of the cars, but I'm sure the Esso super or synergy (whatever it's called) has E5 on the pump at my local fuel station.

I am always amused that a lot of Morganistas are spending tens of thousands £ on a rather strange but exclusive toy but tend to become greedy when it comes to petrol or car tyres.

Graham, may well still be ethanol free as the E5 lable legally has to be displayed if it contains 'up to' 5%

The alternative view Hannes is that because we have a Classic design of hand built sports car the high volume production engines fitted require exotic fuel beyond that suggested by the engine manufacturers

Here in Luxembourg a couple of petrol stations are selling 102 octane fuel - which I have been using for a few years now in my 1.8 Silvertop Zetec, It is literally transforming the engine as there is less vibration in the lower revs and much less of that raucousness in higher rpms. The car sounds happier and so am I. It has even a little more punch (Yes yes) I wouldn't use any other fuel as the result is evident. I tried the same fuel on a 2.0 Golf V GTI 4pot and an 1996 Audi 80 2.6 6cylinders but then I did not notice any difference at all. I think these engines are either too smart and adaptive (Golf) too smoothly running (Audi) and both certainly better insulated from the driver than the Morgan's. If you run an older 4pot engine, do not be greedy, do yourself the pleasure and give it the Château Petrus of fuels. Cheers Mich
