Thanks for clip. What an amazing story.Took 10 years for the rebuild. Duncan drove ithe beast from Bristol to Goodwood. His comments were At 300-400 rpm, the car is traveling at highway speeds. At 1,000 rpm, it's at 128 mph.! Cannot imagine doing 132 miles per hour the beast achieved setting the fastest car in 1910 on skinny tyres

The Beast of Turin is such a breathtaking vehicle, it was at the Bromyard Festival of Speed a couple of years back. I first saw it in the paddocks where its keeper Duncan was talking passionately about his pride and joy to anyone who wanted to hear details of the car technically and historically, he's just so proud of it and rightly so After viewing the fantastic array of cars being tinkered with and warmed up we made our way to the other side of the town to watch the parade of cars, I say parade but a lot of the exhibitors like to wake their engines up so we picked a straight section of the town circuit for the best vantage point to stimulate the senses a little. We were enjoying the display of automobiles, a lot of which must have been built before the development of the silencer, when all of a sudden there was this enormous thumping sound emanating from quite a distance away, it was Duncan prodding the Beast into life at the paddocks. The noise got louder and louder when eventually the Beast rounded the corner at the end of the street coughing flames as it thundered down the straight with Duncan on board grinning ear to ear as he wrestled the car as it whined, growled and wheezed down the street blowing hot fiery fumes into the faces of the bystanders who were watching, somehow he just reminded me of Toad of Toad Hall, a memory that will stay with me forever.

Noticed the wheel nut is put on in the forward direction , that would be why he tightened it so much . Great video .

To me this car is the very best example of the total madness and bravery of those early drivers, which Duncan matches perfectly.
Having been fortunate enough to have seen her being cajoled up the hill at Goodwood by Duncan, spitting fire and assaulting your eardrums is as Owen has said a totally unforgettable experience for all the right reasons.
Forgive me for posting the same video twice over the years but I thought it may catch some of our newer members.

The Beast is awesome. Having seen it on videos spitting out flames as it goes along it is both jaw dropping and fearsome. We went to see The Napier Railton on Pendine sands a while back. Also Bluebird the same day. Great seeing them in action albeit speed limited due to weather/sand conditions. The Vintage Hotrod days in Pendine are great too. Some weird and wonderful beasts roaring down the speed run. Ear splitting in the paddock when they started up. Who needs exhaust manifolds!

Had the pleasure of watching the beast racing at the last Goodwood Members meeting. Brilliant performance, wrestled round corners, he didn't win or anything but everyone cheered every time he came round. Made my day.
