The TSM does a lot more than that. When it goes wrong all sorts of strange things happen such as the engine running all the time with ignition off, or not at all, along with random hazard lights. It is a sort of CAN bus rather than just a relay switch box.

My high beams won’t lock on if I push stalk foward a “ click”. They do work on flash if I pull back on stalk. Could my TSM be an issue ? I put a new stalk in .

Thanks. Thank the Lord ! I was wondering what possibly could the TSM do? Besides turn left and right blinkers on lol or/ and time them down . My brights won’t lock on if I push stalk forward ? Is it TSM or relay ? It’s not stalk . The brights do work when flashed by pulling stalk thanks appreciate any help

This is how my 2013 works in this regard, which sounds identical to what you are describing :
My light control stalk doesnt latch into a forward position when selecting full beam by pushing it forward ( like some cars), full beams are turned on and it returns back to 'center'. If I push it forward again , full beam is switched off. If I pull it back from center, again it doesn't latch but turns full beams on until released giving a flash function.

I certainly had the uncommanded hazard light issue a couple of times although it occurred randomly and not repeatable. Regarding the TSM unit affecting the engine, clearly not by design but likely to be a back feed from some "keep alive" power source, side or hazard lights maybe. Mogegg, I note you still have the headlight main beam issue. Did you try changing/swapping the low/high beam relay as I suggested in another thread? To reiterate there are two relays controlling high beam, one for flashing and second to latch high or low beam.

Yes that’s the function I’m looking for 👍🏼. I can tell you that the stalk does not latch mechanically, in any direction( normally). It is a relay that latches it . Also I’ve gotten some crazy crazy head light rational/ advice . I’d venture to say there are 100s of millions of cars in the USA , and pretty much 99.7 % of them function exactly alike related to headlights/controls. I don’t doubt for a minute that it’s based on a traffic safety edict. So having people explain how their particular headlights work , is kinda hilarious to me. If they don’t work , like they “ work” - their broken ! Lol your lights functionality is exactly what I’m looking for. I can flash my main beam by pulling stalk . But not lock main on with push of stalk forward. I am very suspicious of the Main beam relay. As another member so smartly mentioned. I did not want to start switching relays at this moment . Also is there any relay location info . I have 4 new all same in a box/quad layout . One is main , one is dipped , one is engine , one is start. I recall I just don’t know layout. Thanks for the advise 👍🏼

Your advice is very very good . I’ve done a lot of reading etc. your suspicion maybe correct . Do you know the exact relays position . I am in process of getting some spares . So I did not pull them yet . FYI no mechanical lock or latching in the stalk , it’s the relays ! Ie main beam that latch the Main on when stalk is tapped forward - and consequently latched back off with another push of stalk .👍🏼

The one at an angle which looks like an afterthought is cooling fan relay. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/aYarFhf.jpg) Extra identification can be found by checking wiring to relay sockets. The low/high beam relay is the only one with connections to all five pins.

Has anyone ever tried to fit a more conventional turn signal switch stalk? Is it even possible? I would love to have turn signals that stay on, and cancel them selves by turning instead of a time out.

My Austin Healey Sprite had a double pole single throw with center off switch for the turn indicators and it never failed.
