No, replace them. I thought I would get a few more miles on my 17 yr old spare, hardly used- put me in the wall! Do it soonest.

+1 - it's cheap insurance and you will notice a considerable difference in ride, grip, and handling.

Thank you all for such great advice, both fore and against replacement. I am fitting a new dashboard in the car right now, next job the tyres. Thank s again.

I recently replaced the original, 25% worn tyres on my 2009 Plus 4. The motivation was that of Health and Safety. However, the improvement in ride quality was absolutely astounding.

Having read here about the potential benefits in ride quality from fresh tyres, I wished to maximise it. I asked my local tyre dealer to recommend a tyre on the two following criteria:

1. Thinnest sidewall available being most important
2. "traditional looking" tread pattern.

He came up with the brand "Imperial", and I am very well pleased.

Typically I am fastidious about tyre selection for my daily driver, which is currently an F-Type. Expense is not a consideration they must be the ultimate in speed rating and grip etc. However, I believe our light Morgans have different optimum tyre selection criteria. Just personal opinion, and doubtless many will feel "uncomfortable" on anything other than a premium brand (with a thicker sidewall).

Change them now, and don't forget the spare, that probably has not been used.

One of the most important things is tire grip on a light car. Hard surface makes it dangerous, especially on the wet.
I change my tires every 5 years on the Morgans. And tires for the Mog are not expensive in relation to anything else on the car.
Just try to find someone who is able to balance the wheels too!

Tyres are only made to last for a couple of years perhaps 25,000miles in average use. BMW recommend changing your tyres at 6 years irrespective of mileage, however my neighbours BMWs tyres were cracking at 4 years though not worn out so he changed them.

I changed my Morgan tyres at 7 years and 13,000 miles. Not expensive and worth it for peace of mind.

Great believer in using the spare and rotating every 5-10,000 miles. IMO the argument that a used spare is cosmetically inferior is rubbish as the current used wheel and tyre can easily be brought back to as new appearance. Remember to put an extra 5 psi in though.

Similar on our Mini Clubman. Front tyre walls near tread edge showing signs of cracks after three years and 25,000 miles. 225 ZV7 's fitted late last year with noticeable turn-in improvement although its was very good before.
