So I have been told by a couple of people that it might be time to change the back tire (low miles but older car--it's a 2012 3W with 1500 miles--so probably rubber starting to crack....which might explain the odd smell when I accidentally peel out when accelerating). So a mechanic from the dealer i bought the car from said, "you should consider changing the brake cylinder while you have the wheel out" So my question is where do I buy a decent unit? Will this work? Does the 2012 3Ws use the same brake cylinder as the 93-on Morgans? Thoughts? I am aware of the updated parts list, but the options for cylinders is not helpful in the states. Hard to simply find their suggestions available. This one below matches what Wolf Performance offers, I think.... https://www.bpnorthwest.com/wheel-cylinder-rear-morgan-1993-on.html

The M3W rear brake slave cylinder shows up as factory part # Y220002. Same as used on Classic's, end of March 2017 on - according to parts book.

Yes , look at the brake cylinder if the rear wheel is out. I had this done recently and caught the brake cylinder just in time as it became a solid blob of rust.

There are lots of similar looking slave cylinders out there. Just check that the new one has a bore of 13/16in (~20.1mm - 20.6mm). Don't forget to pack the areas around the pistons (under the rubber gaiters) with red brake grease to prevent future corrosion. While you're at it why not fit an easy-bleed nipple to the new cylinder. You need size M7x1.00mm and it will make bleeding the rear brake so much easier.

I have some more wheel cylinder part numbers that will be added to the next Alternative Parts List update, they may be recognised in the USA? Mintex MWC 155, QH BWC3238, Unipart GWC1715. One other thing you should certainly consider doing "while the wheel is out" is to replace the rear wheel bearings with some SKF Explorer 6205-2RSH items, the original ones fail frequently. For information, the brake shoes are different thickness from new, many people think that one has stuck and worn away.
There is a whole article in this months Morgan Three Wheeler Clubs "Bulletin" magazine about things you should plan to do when the rear wheel is out. It is a bit of a job to remove and refit so you don't want to be doing it any more than is necessary. If you are not a MTWC member I can email you a copy of the article if you PM me.
