Fertiliser-Blame the Vegetable eaters.
Nitrous oxide (N2O) is over 300 times more harmful than carbon dioxide, so reducing output of this gas is particularly important....

Livestock - Blame the Meat eaters.
Methane (CH4) is another very powerful greenhouse gas, and is up to 30 times more damaging than carbon dioxide, although it spends less time in the atmosphere.

Fuel - The tractor, the lorry and the selfish sod driving to the supermarket.
CO2 is less damaging than N2O and CH4, but remains in the atmosphere for around 100 years. For this reason, any emissions today will continue to affect future generations; this is why we are already ‘locked in’ to a certain amount of global temperature rise.

So out of the three, GHC N20 is the worse offender. So why eat more veg when its ten fold worse than meat for the environment?

Tons of N2O comes from livestock farming too.

Stop eating meat, eat local, organic veg where possible. Means you can drive more

Don't forget the worst offenders Air Travel. I wonder what the CO2 reduction has been during the Pandemic ???

Motoring is a massive cash cow for tax dependant UK. There is also an anti motoring background that has persisted since the red flag days, albeit with new ways to milk the cow being found. It will happen with EV motoring sometime soon. When a suitable balance point is reached for tax revenue of EV versus ICE there will be a change in grants, car charging tax introduced ( smart charging), battery recycling charge, increased taxes on ICE vehicles to push the change to EV. Like solar energy it is the early uptake that gains the better initial payback. As time goes on that benefit erodes. For London there are two charges, Congestion and ULEZ. Other cities are following suit.
In the meantime other major polluters are relatively untouched.
A big factor is undoubtedly the lobbying that takes place. Vested interests have big lobbying sectors to prevent or minimise negative legislation. Politicians are targeted both legitimately and illegally ( allegedly). The sleaze factor is currently making news.
