Don't forget the worst offenders Air Travel. I wonder what the CO2 reduction has been during the Pandemic ???

I get a gold star there too - not been on a plane for 7 years 22 years for us so platinum by your standard 10 years of no trains or boats either  Plenty of meat, V8 and GTI miles though

perhaps because flying uses so much fuel, and it's an inherent part of the business' cost, the industry is already looking at alternative propulsion methods.
+ governments are kinda trigger happy when it comes to taxing flying - including carbon taxes You can argue whether or not those taxes are high enough.

I feel that whilst business travel will recover many companies, with the enforced experience of "Zoom" (I use it as a generic description for teleconferencing) there will be less air travel than before.
Holiday flying is likely to bounce back to almost 100% from 2022, there is massive unmet demand, especially long haul.
I haven't flown since the end of 2019 and wonder if I will ever fly again.

Once you factor in the red and amber zones for Covid, war zones, EU countries which are now unwelcoming to UK citizens, plus containment in trains, boats and planes, it's hardly a tempting prospect is it?

She posts alot about them on FB, including the itineraries. It's appears to be everything I dislike or despise, all bundled up in a big white box.

Thanks that shows what I have always thought. Also I suspect by 170,000 kms you would need to replace the batteries or put up with lower performance. Either of which adds to the emissions.
I wonder how the impact of scrapping & recycling works out A Tesla, supposedly, has a battery pack capable of 1,500 cycles - or 500,000 miles. I don't believe that - but if it went 170,000 I would be perfectly happy. 170,000 petrol miles would cost me £60,000 Vs £5,000 in volts. That's ignoring road tax, servicing etc. I didn't buy mine to save newts, but it it does, whoopie-do. I am also told that old battery packs will be 're-purposed' for energy storage etc. The tech is still quite new and the anti's haven't quite resolved their arguments yet. Road pricing (a charge per mile) is bound to happen at some point. The loss of revenue from petrol taxation is going to become a major issue - even my fag packet cost calculation would be a loss to the exchequer of £48k in petrol tax - from me personally. That's a huge individual number. A few months into EV ownership and I have to say I would find it hard not to buy an EV if I was in the market for a new car. When measuring like for like, the costs are not that much higher - a Tesla 3 is roughly equivalent to a petrol BMW 3 and, of course, much cheaper to run over a few years on current energy pricing.
