Hi all Well today I took delivery of a green first edition and said goodbye to my ARP4, so far I have reversed it into the garage not literally ! But first impressions are it’s a grown up car , I am sad to see the ARP4 go as it was a hoot to drive but needed an auto as I have become very lazy ! First question is does the cigar lighter trickle charge or is it a matter of putting it straight to the battery ? Looking forward to the sun shine Any tips or tricks I need to know M

Congrats Is it a Plus Four? I’ve was told on collection my Ctek should work if I simply plug into the cigarette socket thingy. However, it doesn’t seem to register a connection. I’ve checked with a phone charger adaptor and that works so not sure if it’s a centre pin length issue or what. Booked in for its 1000 mile service in mid June and this is one the things for the dealer to look at for me (along with things like the brake kit to reduce squeal). In the meantime it just means I have to keep driving the beauty to ensure the battery keeps charged. It’s a tough gig but someone’s gotta do it… Am hoping they can sort it for me though… HB

On our Mini for example its supply is terminated some minutes after use when main electrical bus shuts down. Best to have direct battery connection anyway. A short lead to battery terminals with appropriate non-reversible and capped connector can be left permanently wired in.

2018 4/4. Found that the accessories socket remains permanently live. I have a ctek adapter. Plugged that in and connected the ctek and it works fine. Found that the plug needs a bit of wiggling to seat it and make contact, but otherwise okay. Will probably get around to a direct to battery connector as that is what I have done on all my previous vehicles.

That is how I used to work but I noticed that the connection could become unreliable in the winter - even if undisturbed. I installed a fused fix connector and all is now reliable.
