![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/05/23/IMG_3795.md.jpg) Having successfully fitted one of Simon's excellent aluminium radiators to the Roadster, I'm left with a conundrum: what to do with the "elephant's trunk" attached to the air intake?  Previously crudely stuffed into the space above the old plastic rad at the top of the cowl, there is now no room to do the same. So I'm left with the trunk dangling helplessly, as seen here. Whilst it can, presumably draw on cool-ish air from below, it has the bottom hose in its path, thus warming things up quite a bit. (Presumably a source of cool air - even "ram" air - would be desirable.) I'm also just a little concerned about the risk of sucking up water, in the event of driving through a flood - so a higher inlet position would be desirable. Has anyone managed to come up with a solution - or is it best just to remove the trunking altogether?

Can't really see from the pic, but is there room to make up a half-moon intake to sit in the gap between the cowl and the top of the radiator and pick up cool air from the front grille?

It has got to better than the 3.7l that basically has the air intake just behind the passenger side exhaust manifold. The S1 has an inlet funnel next to the inverted louvres on the bonnet. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2019/07/08/20190708_133654.jpg)

I have a normal plastic radiator in my plus 4 and the air intake pipe was just flopped over the radiator,so I made a wide narrow scoop out of copper sheet,very easy to work into the desired shape, but it depends on how much room you have got. As a source of ram air it works brilliantly,and makes a difference on acceleration

Was trying to adapt the rigid plastic tube from a Stihl leaf blower (which has roughly the right diameter, and a pre-formed flattened end) - but because the intake box Morgan has used faces sharply away to the offside of the car ( why?) this seems impossible. Think I shall have to invest in a slightly longer piece of trunking from Car Builder Solutions or similar and try and form a flattened end that can squeeze between the top of the rad and the cowl. The gap is very tight! If I try to utilise the existing hose - because it is too short - it ends up with its open end flat against the rear face of the radiator top tank, which is hot, hot, hot  and would severely restrict the air flow as well. It's all a challenge!

Nick, that hose is quite squishable, just make it oval and it should fit over the top of your new rad up against the cowl, it will still have (almost) the same tube area to grab fresh air

Many thanks Frank. That's a superb solution - and a very neat finish. Presumably you weren't concerned that the loss of a cold, slightly "ram" effect air source from the front cowl/grille area would affect output? Must say that I'm concerned that flattening the trunking to the extent that I'd have to to get it over the top of the rad might restrict airflow sufficiently to negate any advantage - with the added hazard that the flattened mouth might get sucked closed  (as CooperMan says - that tube is pretty squishable - especially at the end). Might just investigate the "flattened funnel-shaped" duct shown on the Revotec site. If it were slim enough to fit in the gap, that might do the trick.
