So following a service to the ML63 ballistic sofa and looking at the electric car market I have been looking as well. In truth I have watched it for some time but never been ready to jump.

Looking on the Tesla site and at Autotrader etc to learn the cars I did notice something interesting. Many of the pre-conceptions I probably had have been debunked. There are a lot of Model S that have 100k miles and higher than average miles so clearly some smarter people like Shooter have been using this low running cost/tax model for some time. The condition of them seems pretty solid as I had considered the integrity of the Tesla interior inferior to the typical (high end) AMG-MB I am used to. It felt like less quality materials and somewhat flexibly mounted however they still seem to appear quite well set.

I may have to go for a test drive. I have trouble with the front of the Model 3 and always look to buy pre-owned/register etc. Looks like I will have a sniff around the S as the hatch will be more effective for us. I may try an X for a giggle as well. Having found the ML less offensive to drive than I expected it will be interesting to see how an X drives with the low CoG. I do however fancy something that handles less like an SRN4 next.

What is the world coming to. I could end up with an enhanced iPad charger as well. Not good

I know several Morgan owners on here who also drive Tesla's...me included. I know of many other Tesla owners who also have classic cars and modern sports cars.

Come on then TBM - tell us - what do you do for your jollies? - Well deserved and all that, but you get plenty of em.

I get about 13 weeks holiday a year. I'm currently paid 50% of what I was earning 21 years ago when I worked in publishing, but I'd rather have freedom than money. I earn enough to enjoy life, but would work less if I could afford to.

In my freetime (weekends, and holidays), having no kids means I can make decisions at the last minute, so all depends on my mood (and the weather) - often I jump on my bike or in my Mog and go and visit mates all round the UK for beers and a natter.

Sometimes I go to bike rallies where me and my bike mates sit in a field listening to good music, and again having beers and a natter and talk sh1t about bikes. I go away for short breaks/holidays with my Mrs where we travel the UK, often in search of British Neolithic/Bronze Age/Iron Age archaeology (we met as archaeology undergrads.) Try and have at least one camping holiday a year, and a trip to Cornwall to dick around in the surf.

Where possible I do my best to avoid towns/ crowds and groups of strangers. Occasionally hit the Theatre, but I'm very picky about what I'll sit through and I loathe light entertainment/musicals. Like seeing the odd band but again, not big concerts - prefer smaller more intimate venues. Usually old school rock.

Lockdown has been difficult, but this weekend went down the pub Friday with the Mrs, out for a ride with my bike mates and breakfast on Saturday morning and then went to Cambridge to see an old Uni mate in the afternoon/evening for beers and a meal. Life is starting to get back to normal

TBM .... you should aim your travels up to this corner sometime and have a gander at a few of the Recumbent Stone Circles unique to this part of the world and SW Ireland 🙂

Definitely on the list - to my shame, I've only been to Scotland twice - once was when I was acting in the Edinburgh Fringe, so saw little else apart from the venue and bar, the other was when I was dropped off at Wick by HMS Orkney and had to make my way back to Worcester with a little more than a rail travel permit!

My Mrs family are Scottish (although are most now live in England), so a tour is certainly needed. Love to go further up and spend some time on the Orkneys too. Skara Brae and associated sites are on the bucket list.

Done Southern Ireland a few times - some fabulous sites there.

Yep .... great archeology in the Northern Isles ..... vitrified forts and Brochs are other high points up this east coast ..... ideal archeology road-trip route 🙂

I said the majority of buyers I did not say all. If you are happy with your Tesla that fine with me. Life would be boring if we all agreed. If you drive a Morgan of any description your thinking regarding cars is not with the majority.

I think for those of us who are still working and doing a lot of miles there is a big difference between the requirements for a car that is used for work and a car that is used for fun.

Like Alistair, I can see my next work car being electric when the lease on the Range Rover runs out. My requirements for the work car are that it needs to be quiet, good ride comfort, good quality seats and visibility with 4 doors and good luggage carrying capacity. I am now used to heated seats and steering wheel, sat nav, good quality hifi, on board wifi hotspot and on long journeys I do use the massage function on the seats.
From my standpoint I am impressed with Techy gadgets on my work car as it makes my working life a lot easier and less tiring.

My requirements for a car for fun are the polar opposite - V8 noise and fresh air. My Cobra doesn't even have a heater let alone a working roof of any sort. Now I have sold the M3W my plan is to buy a plus 8 as the practical compliment to the Cobra as it will have a (leaking) roof and a heater.

There are currently around 4.8 million EV owners globally. The majority of these buy them to 'look good'? Right-ho.
