A stone stuck between the disc and pad makes a horrible sound.

I checked this by jacking up and rotating wheel. Perhaps I should step on brake while coasting (engine off?) that might tell me. Chatting with another M3W owner the other day, we think it might be early sign of compensator failure. Might the HD compensator moan a bit while turning left? (It hasn't started pinging yet) 1600 miles on original HD unit

I don't recall turning affecting the HD compensator, it just squealed and rattled like a cement mixer full of bolts at idle and low revs.

The original rear sprocket on a 2012 car would have been Aluminium.
