I was having a coffee and the Gloria/Julia/Angela Rip off Britain prog last week. They featured a couple of EV parts replacement complaints. A Citroen needed a new Invertor...£3000. Really? Main dealer price but I think an indi did the job for substantially less. Another component for a different make was even higher but I can’t remember the details. Possibly compressor related. Excuses were made but didn’t stack up. Training etc. It shows partly why those Vintage Voltage conversions were so costly. Buying a used EV? Hmmmmm hope the components last ok! You could always scrap the car and sell the parts on ebay.

A Tesla M3 ER AWD is a quick sports saloon, it costs peanuts to run - energy, road fund, and for company car users, virtually no BIK. It is a peaceful, tranquil place to be, with an excellent sound system. I think it complements the Aero S4 Plus 8 perfectly. I didn't buy it because it is "Green", because I don't believe over its production/use/recycling lifetime it is. I could care less what people think,

An 8 year battery and drive train warranty is pretty good on Tesla's - so I can't say I'm too worried. I've had more issues with my Morgan than I'll probably ever have with the Tesla.

I see reports of Tesla Model S early adopters in the USA selling cars that are now 9 years old and with 250,000 miles run with only a 10% loss of battery efficiency. Battery life can be shortened by careless use and charging, but overall I get the feeling that Tesla have a good grasp of battery management and so can promise a long life.

I have no doubt your google skills have already found this one Peter but I figure if they have not you might enjoy this one in anticipation. https://teslaowners.org.uk/kb/100-things-never-knew-tesla

Radioactive/Diamond Batteries. Using waste from nuclear power for a forever battery, could prove interesting. https://www.popularmechanics.com/sc...iamond-battery-will-run-for-28000-years/

Well that would solve the ongoing need for Sellafield reprocessing plant (just up the coast). I'd probably miss all those glowing 3 eyed fish we get around here. Interesting development if it can be made safe and economical to produce.

At a slight tangent, one of my clients told me on Fridaynthat his Tesla is the most expensive to insure of any car he's ever had. Apparently it's a class 50, the highest one. Something to do with the cost of parts and the delays, apparently if they are damaged it can take weeks and the insurance company has to fork out for a hire car. Does that sound true? I've never heard it before. He was also muttering about the cost of tyres. Nick

So following a service to the ML63 ballistic sofa and looking at the electric car market I have been looking as well. In truth I have watched it for some time but never been ready to jump. /// What is the world coming to. I could end up with an enhanced iPad charger as well. Not good haha! cracking description of an ML63 fwiw, a 45 mile round trip Saturday in the i8 returned over 80mpg - so barely using any petrol, and would've been less if the pub had a charger, and I'd not engaged all 3 engines when passing a succession of cruising hybrids with unnecessary haste.
