They have become a lot less evil since I got myself a couple of these from eBay: ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/05/26/Screenshot-2021-05-26-at-13.34.40.png) They are nicely made and I find them easier to use than the collection of nuts & washers that I used to use. The adjuster nut thread is coarser than the rivet thread which enables efficient & speedy tightening. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/05/26/Screenshot-2021-05-26-at-13.52.59.png) Not too expensive for a tool that will last a lifetime. Just search eBay for 'Engineers High Tensile Rivnut Setting Tool'.

They have become a lot less evil since I got myself a couple of these from eBay: I agree they can be tamed into submission and play nice for a couple of uses , but will revert to type ( evil ) at the first opportunity. I wonder why they dont produce a closed end version that will keep the threads clean and not lock up?

I usually give them a squirt of Waxoyl and haven't really had a problem since I had to go round tightening them all up the first time.

Have been using them for about 30 years. Very rarely had any trouble with the ones I've fitted.

I've not had any problems with Rivnuts, I use a setting tool from Teng Tools, but I only tend to use them in low-stress applications. ![[Linked Image]](https://uktc.e2ecdn.uk/Products/ttnr81.jpg) It works very well with aluminium rivets (which are all I use) but I suspect a beefier setup might be needed if one wanted to use steel rivets in higher-load installations

Would a tiny wipe of epoxy on the serrations help when fitting ?
