Just noticed a low water level in the header tank. Lost about 0,5 cm in 1000km. Now I discovered that the T-fitting, connecting the three hoses is leaking. You wont see anything on the garage floor. The drops remain on/in the chassis. See red dots in the middle of picture. If you put your finger under the T-fitting it gets wet. The screw of the middle clamp was quite loose. I tightened all the three, hoping not to crack the T-piece. I advise to check this periodically. Regards from Switzerland. Try Simon at SiFab. He can supply you with metal T pieces that are much more robust. Mine were not leaking but I replaced them with the metal options

Well worth replacing as suggested above.

BTW - for Roadster owners, there are two similar fittings. The one that is not shared with the +4 and 4/4 is even more fragile.

Where's the 2nd T-piece? I've just replaced the obvious one, tee-d off the hose from the header tank. Haven't spotted the other!

On the S1 there is one on the crankcase ventilation pipes from each cylinder bank. If it cracks air leaks cause a lean mixture. I got mine in brass off fleabay

Old fashioned carpart dealers have some „connectors“ made of copper or brass.

In my hometown it‘s „Bremsen Henrich“.

Or have a look or ask Mr. Google... messing-t stück 8mm

From memory brass is not good with some antifreezes. The crankcase T needs 2 one diameter & 1 another. I could only get it on fleabay

The steel "H" connector which acts as a heater by-pass when the heater valve is closed on my mid 80`s +8 was beginning to look a tad corroded. Apparently the Stainless replacement was created by Simon of this parish.... If stuck I could have messed around with copper T`s but the stainless is a rather neater job than I might have managed..

For the diameters: the piping must have a print for the specification of use and diameters.
