Tony, mine is a round socket on a short lead going to the ECU, which could either side of the rear engine bay depending which way the wind was blowing when fitted.
its OBD1, looked into using this but it involved making up a specific round plug and installing software on Android which I don't have, gave up and decided that ignorance was the best policy.
