Nice run down to Dovercourt & back with a pit stop at the Butt & Oyster together with Tony & our better halfs.

Yesterday I had a run over to Heathrow to have a 'Fit-To-Fly' Covid test ready to jet off to Slovenia later today. The test went smoothly and the promised (negative) results were in my mailbox at 7.00pm the same day. This follows a comedy of failed attempts with Melio healthcare and Superdrug who acted in concert to give me the run around and not be able to do what they promised - to the credit of Melio my fee was refunded immediately.

Here I am on the return journey under the Chiswick flyover, approaching the buttress where graffiti once claimed "Clapton is God". I took this long way home to avoid the carpark that was the M25, Hounslow and the closed roads around Feltham. I quite enjoyed the run down through Richmond, Twickers, Walton and home


An Asian gentleman pulled up on an Electric 'Vespa lookalike' and asked about the Morgan, I had the fleeting thought that he was on the more interesting vehicle.

My first trip out in the Mog was less of a success than I might have hoped and was just a short one to the petrol station to fill up, just to check all the basics were operating as expected, which they were.

This short trip was followed up a few days later with a call from HM constabulary..!!!! Seems I had exited the petrol station without paying for my £70 fill up.... Confusion reigned.... For the first time I had paid by use of my card and did not ask for a receipt, these simple changes to my normal procedures of paying cash, being created by Covid... That and my good lady requesting I buy a magazine for her... Seems I paid for the magazine only.... ..! Most embarrassing.. Double DUH..!

Fortunately I woke this morning to bright sun, and with my better half still asleep, I was able to creep out, fire the old Mog up and enjoy a quick circa 30 mile scoot around my local mix of single track and country "A" roads hopefully before SWMBO rose from her slumbers. T`was a tad misty in places and there were the early morning cyclists to watch out for too, but for my first run in a long time it was indeed wonderful just to be able to enjoy the rumble of the old things V8 and the mix of sun mist and countryside aromas, sheep in the fields and all seemed well in the world for me... What`s more to want..?

This is a beautifully told story, George, especially the part which happened today with your Mog sounds so inviting as if I had been there in the fields with the morning scent.

I was out by six this morning. Foggy on the road but deserted. 65 miles. Stopped for tea and chocolate half way round. Back home by 8.15. Hardly anyone about.
